Found this beauty on Craigslist earlier this week. Five chairs total, two of which will have to be recained. I hope to get started on this one this weekend! Stay tuned.

Not much luck
We got up very early this morning to treaure hunt. We hit a lot of yard and estate sales but no luck finding any furniture. We did find a few small things for the apartment we are trying to furnish. However, we did have a great time just being together. Last night we did finish one of the two chests we bought last weekend. We are very pleased with the way it turned out and can't wait to see it go to a good home! Below is a picture of the finished piece the other one is still in original condition. We are going to hold on to it for a while to see if we find anyone who wants to custom order.

Last Weekend's Finds
At first glance, we thought this was some sort of lowboy with two drawers and we instantly made a bee line towards it. After realizing they were faux drawers and instead was actually some type of chest we fell in LOVE. The owner actually had two and we purchased both. We are thinking these could be used as a toy chest, blanket chest at the foot of a bed, or used for any other type of storage. There is even a possibility to have a cushion made for the top and used as a bench. Hardware has been removed and we are working on the first chest. Stay tuned for afters! Our First Sale
This classic French inspired double serpentine set was manufactured by Bassett between October 1960 and April 1966. It is part of the Versailles Collection that is now considered a collectors' item. This set was in immaculate condition for its age. At that point, we decided no matter what that we would not separate these pieces. We would either sell these pieces together or we would keep them as a pair. It is made out of solid wood and both pieces have dove tailed drawers. Because this piece is so classic and the lines were so beautiful, it was not hard to choose Annie Sloan Paris Gray to achieve the look we envisioned. We got so excited about this find that as soon as we got home we started working on it, and we forgot to take before and afters! The finished product far exceeded our expectations so much that we considered keeping it. Since we had never sold a piece before, pricing was an issue as well as how to market these pieces. We factored in the cost of the pieces as well as the hours spent refinishing and arrived at a base price. We both agreed if the pieces did not sale for that base price that it was meant for us to keep it. We used social media and Craigslist to advertise the pieces. Additionally the sweet girls at our neighborhood coffee shop, allowed us to display one piece in their shop. In less than three weeks we had an offer from a cute, young girl who drove over an hour and a half with her nine month old baby to pick up her purchase. As proud as we were, we really hated to see it go! If I ever run across another set like this, we will refinish it just like these two and they will be OURS! Tuesday, June 4, 2013
1st Piece: Before and After
Found this piece at an estate sale and paired it with a dresser that will be going to the apartment. We chose the Annie Sloan color Provence to coordinate with white and coral bed linens. We also used Annie Sloan clear and dark wax with a touch of gold leaf wax for the small details. We are so pleased with the way it turned out. This piece is not for sale. If we can do this, anybody can!

Our Story
My daughter and I started shopping estate sales, garage sales, and flea markets to furnish her college apartment with a shabby chic themed decor. The first piece we refinished we used Annie Sloan products and fell in love with the results. Our first and last initials are both Ts, and we both love antiques, old things, and all things vintage; hence the name T-Squared Vintage.
The more we shopped for her apartment the more things we found that we loved. It became very apparent that her small apartment would not be able to house everything we had purchased. So, we decided to try our hand at selling a few pieces. I am creating this blog because lots of friends and family have asked to see Befores and Afters. So...we will see where this goes!
